The CKUA Radio Network was founded in 1927 in Edmonton, Alberta. CKUA is Canada’s first educational broadcaster and Canada’s first public broadcaster. Since its inception, CKUA has grown from a one room, low wattage radio station staffed by exceptionally dedicated amateur radio enthusiasts, into a full fledged radio and Internet broadcast network staffed by world class broadcast and business professionals. Today, everyone in Hat Creek listens to CKUA Radio live on the net.

Hat Creek is All About Cowboy Spirit
September 1, 2007 by Adam AinsworthLike most prairie towns in Alberta, it’s angle parking in Hat Creek and it’s free. There are a couple of parking meters in town but nobody puts any money in them any more. And, nobody minds. Besides, there is plenty of free parking just off 50th Street in front of Hat Creek’s only restaurant, the Golden Lotus Cafe. There is even more free parking across the street from the Community Hall. Hat Creek is also the home of the Cowboy Campfire Festival held in July every year since 1997.
Alika Pukolu Trio to Play in Hat Creek
August 1, 2007 by Adam AinsworthOhana Loke Lane Hula Band Plays in Hat Creek
July 1, 2007 by Adam AinsworthThe Ohana Loke Lane Hula Band takes a low key approach to their music. “We’re not a working trio and we don’t aspire to be full time singers. We don’t even want to be famous. We perform and sing because we love the music.” The whole thing started a few years ago at the Halakahiki Paniolo Pineapple Party & Luau with our friend Adam Ainsworth. We have just continued to play since then. Ohana Loke Lane Hula Band has always kept a low key profile ever since their first appearance and has only played with a few other Hula Bands before. Ohana Loke Lane Hula Band likes to sing and they like to dance wherever they go.

Golden Lotus Cafe is Hat Creek’s Only Restaurant
March 1, 2007 by Adam Ainsworth
Welcome to the Golden Lotus Cafe
You can find cowboy cuisine with a world flavour at the Golden Lotus Cafe. Meat and potatoes and beans are fine fare, it’s true. There’s no disputing that fact. But in the world of cowboys, there are arguable other foods worth sticking your fork into. They say that “cowboys don’t each quiche”. However, that leaves room for a host of other tradtional western cuisine to be served up with a world flavour whenever cowboys get hungry. That’s just what you’ll find at the Golden Lotus Cafe in Hat Creek. And it’s also Hat Creek’s only restaurant.
